More specifically, it is mentioned several times that only the Hashira has the ability to summon people across dimensions: it may be presumed that Hikaru, who has Hashira-level strength of Heart, was actually responsible due to her desire to return to Cephiro and make ammends for the disaster at the end of the first story arc. Mokona. Clef explained it thus in part 2, volume 3: I believe that the Creator (Mokona) was wishing for a Revolution in Cephiro. If Mokona wanted status quo, then he wouldn't have placed countries around it that had completely different environments. And there would be no need for the Magic Knights to come from another world. I think Mokona was hoping for a Better World created by seeing, feeling, and understanding something other than yourself. The Mashin that Hikaru controlled was named "Rayearth". In the words of Earth, it means "glowing(Ray) land(Earth)". They taught us that. Maybe there was a wish there -- that all worlds will be full of Light. [Fuu asks: "Then....The one that summoned us here again was...."] The only one that can summon people from another world in a Pillar-less Cephiro would be the Creator. The strong Wish to go to Cephiro again.... and the wish to change this country, made by the girls from another world... moved Mokona.
